This American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 2 course is for those looking to develop their personal paddling skills and become a certified kayak instructor. This 4-day course focuses on technical knowledge, terminology, teaching skills, personal paddling, and safety awareness within a flatwater environment. The course runs from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. Full-day participation is required.

ACA Instructor Trainer

John is a paddler, podcaster, and writer who loves being on the water. With listeners in 103 countries around the world, John is a recognized and respected name in the kayaking community.

Prerequisites

Participants need to know how to paddle stroke and have completed rescue training before registering for this course. All participants must be 18 years or older.

Equipment

As part of your registration, you will receive the following equipment for use during the course: a touring kayak, kayak paddle, PFD, spray skirt, paddle float, and tow rope. Participants are also welcome to bring and use their own equipment. Wetsuits for this course are required and can be rented from Urban Kayaks for an additional $50.00.

Additional Fees

Each participant is required to be an ACA Member when registering for this course. ACA membership costs $40.00 annually. You can become an ACA member by visiting https://americancanoe.org/.

Registration

Once you have completed your registration form, instructor John Chase will contact you and send additional information about the course. Registration closes May 8, 2024. Each course must have at least 3 registered participants for lessons to be held. The maximum enrollment is 10 participants.

Payment

Payment will be collected by Urban Kayaks. A $150 deposit is due upon registration. Any remaining balance is due on May 8, 2024.
