AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION (ACA) LEVEL 2

ESSENTIALS OF KAYAK TOURING INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP (IDW/ICE)

This ACA Level 2 course is for those looking to develop their personal paddling skills and become a certified kayak instructor. The 4-day course is focused on technical knowledge, terminology, teaching skills, personal paddling skills, and safety awareness in a flatwater teaching environment. The course is from 8am-6pm daily, and full day participation is required.

Prerequisites:

Participants need to have paddle stroke and rescue training prior. Participants must be 18 years or older.

Equipment:

Included with the cost, Urban Kayaks will provide the following equipment for use during the course: a touring kayak, kayak paddle, PFD, spray skirt, paddle float, and tow rope. Participants are also welcome to bring and use their own equipment. Wetsuits are required, and can be rented for an additional $50.

Additional Fees:

Each participant needs to join the ACA ($40) and Safety Education Instruction Committee ($30).

Registration:

Once the registration form is completed, instructor Sam Crowley will contact you and send the class info. Registration closes May 11, 2023. A minimum of 3 participants are required to run course, and a maximum of 10.

Payment will be collected by Urban Kayaks three weeks prior to the session.
